STRATEGIC CONTEXT

Compass Sweden is now seeking to appoint a new Operations Director to oversee its Public Sector
operations.
The Operations Director will oversee all public sector operations – over 1,000 employees,
representing around half of the company’s workforce, as well as several central production kitchens
spread across Sweden. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, they will join the leadership team
alongside the Operations Director for Private Sector, Finance Director, Sales Director, Retention
Director, Procurement Director, HR Director, Operational Excellence Director, and Legal Director. The
role will also have the support of a dedicated controller and HRBP for the business area.

They will be accountable for P&L and operational standards across the Public Sector portfolio, leading
a team of four Regional Managers, an HSEQ Manager, and a Culinary Manager with two directreporting menu planners.

They will have responsibility for the following sectors; Schools, Universities and Cafés, Defense,
Healthcare & Senior Living, and key brands; Hav a Java, Medirest, Chartwells and
Försvarsrestauranger.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Director, Public Sector will be responsible for the following:

As a key member of the leadership team for Compass Group Sweden, work in partnership
with the MD and other functional leaders to develop and execute the strategy for the business
Lead the Public Sector division, with full accountability for P&L, ensuring strong and
sustainable nancial performance
Apply best practice standards from Compass Group globally, ensuring consistent approaches
to pricing, labour planning, and budgeting within all units
Challenge existing business models, operational structures, systems, and processes to deliver
enhanced efficiency, effectiveness, and protability
Embed a culture of operational excellence across all public sector brands, continuously
identifying opportunities to strengthen performance and drive efficiencies
Creating an organisational structure within the Public Sector division that supports long-term
development and growth, including optimising CPU utilisation
Lead initiatives to increase protability through standardisation, harmonisation, and lean
programs where necessary
Build strong people capability – leading and developing a team of regional managers, HSEQ,
and culinary staff – providing clarity, accountability, and strengthening the team as needed
Work closely with the management team to drive transformation where required and deliver
business improvement
Ensure labour spend is utilised efficiently and effectively, with structures in place to support
optimal service delivery
Serve as the guardian of health, safety, and compliance within the Public Sector – ensuring
adherence to regulatory requirements, government rules, and best practices


PERSON PROFILE

The Operations Director, Public Sector will likely have the following key skills and experience:
An excellent track record of commercial delivery throughout their career
Experience of managing, developing, and motivating a team of senior operational leaders
Ideally experience working with government, municipal, or regulated public-sector contracts
Understanding operations from the ground up, with direct experience at a unit level
Experience leading culture change and / or transformation initiatives
A level of fuency in English
